Mannarinu Caterers has announced that it is taking the premises previously housing Marea on Triq Marina, Kalkara, creating its own venue and restaurant called “Curve”.

“For decades, Mannarinu has been at your table. Now, we’re giving your milestones a home. We are proud to officially unveil our new venue, Curve,” the wedding caterers announced on social media.

Mannarinu Caterers is a long-standing catering company in Malta, established in the 1950s by Manuel Cachia. Currently led by the fourth generation,  the firm specialises in weddings, corporate events, and bespoke catering service.

This comes just as Dizz Group CEO Diane Izzo dismissed a report that the recent closure of two restaurants, including Marea, in Kalkara was in any way linked to the redemption of an €8 million bond.

With regards to Marea, a ‘Mediterrasian’ restaurant which fused Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine, Ms Izzo said that while it was a beautiful venue, it just didn’t work out from a business point of view. “We paid a premium for Marea, but in business sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t,” she said.

The premises form part of a concession held by JayKay Investments, a company owned by architect and businessman Joseph Bondin. A planning application has been filed to turn part of the property into a wedding venue.
