Maltco Lotteries contributed €50,000 to the Responsible Gaming Foundation that will be used to promote and implement responsible gaming principles while protecting players, especially the most vulnerable.
The donation forms part of the national lotteries operator’s annual CSR programme and the 2020 Responsible Gaming Campaign themed Be Ahead of the Game – Keep it Fun.
Thanking the company for its donation, Financial Services and Digital Economy Parliamentary Secretary Clayton Bartolo referred to the prospects of having a thriving gaming industry while pursuing the battle against gambling addiction.
“While we acknowledge that the gaming industry is a crucial player within our economy, it is vital that we not only sustain this industry through the necessary regulation but also thrive to continue making Malta a worldwide reputable jurisdiction when it comes to gaming. The well-being of a person supersedes any monetary value,” he said.
Shawn Zammit, General Manager of the Responsible Gaming Foundation, said that, over the past months, part of Maltco’s contribution was directly invested in supporting the foundation’s contingency plan aimed at addressing the COVID-19 crisis.
Maltco Lotteries CEO Vasileios Kasiotakis said it is the company’s mission to offer a unique gaming experience within outlets that offer a vast portfolio of games specifically designed on responsible gaming principles, operate within a safe environment, practise social distancing measures and follow anti-money laundering regulations for the benefit of the Maltese community.
In addition to the donation in aid of responsible gaming, Maltco Lotteries contributes about €600,000 every year to the Good Causes Fund, the money coming from unclaimed prizes and which is then used to aid and support individuals and entities within Maltese society.
