The Maltese community is mourning the loss of Pierre Chircop, a highly respected Doctor and former Vice Mayor of Birżebbuġa, who passed away this week.

Dr Chircop, husband to Marcelle Chircop and father of two children, was widely known for his dedication to his patients and his active involvement in the community. In addition to his medical career, he previously served as Vice Mayor of Birżebbuġa, where he worked tirelessly for the locality.

A passionate wine enthusiast and an avid cyclist, Dr Chircop was known for embracing life to the fullest. Among those paying tribute was tenor Joseph Calleja, a close friend, who described him as 'an honest friend and Doctor who loved his family, life and will be sorely missed.'

The Birżebbuġa Local Council and the Marsaxlokk Local Council also expressed their condolences, highlighting Dr Chircop’s dedication and service over the years in their respective communities. 'He was not only a Doctor for our families, but also a figure of trust and support in many aspects of daily life,' the council noted, adding that his memory will remain cherished by all.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dr Chircop’s wife, children, and extended family. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday 31st July at 8:30am at St Peter’s Parish Church, Birżebbuġa.
