Malta will host the AICR International Congress in 2027, following the formal handover of the official hosting flag to AICR Malta. The event, branded as The AICR Experience 2027, will bring front office leaders and hospitality professionals from around the world to the islands.
The congress is expected to serve as a global platform for professional exchange, leadership development and networking within the front office community, with a focus on elevating service standards, sharing best practice and fostering cross-border collaboration.
AICR Malta said the 2027 congress will showcase the country’s strengths as a hospitality destination, highlighting its history, gastronomy and cultural identity while delivering an experience aligned with AICR’s international standards. Delegates will be immersed in what organisers described as an “authentic and meaningful journey” designed around professional inspiration and global connection.
The announcement follows Malta’s recent participation in the AICR World’s Best Receptionist Competition, held in Brussels, where Sharona Frendo represented the country. Ms Frendo, a receptionist at The Phoenicia Malta, earned her place at the international finals after winning the inaugural AICR Malta Receptionist of the Year competition, competing alongside participants from 20 countries.
The international competition centres on the David Campbell Trophy, awarded to the AICR World’s Best Receptionist. The award commemorates the late David Campbell, who served as Chef de Reception at The Ritz Hotel in Paris and whose dedication to the profession inspired the creation of the competition.

When she’s not writing articles at work or poetry at home, you’ll find her taking long walks in the countryside, pumping iron at the gym, caring for her farm animals, or spending quality time with family and friends. In short, she’s always on the go, drawing inspiration from the little things around her, and constantly striving to make the ordinary extraordinary.
