Lidl Malta on Thursday opened its 10th store on the Maltese Islands, on the former site of Scotts Supermarket in Burmarrard, signalling its “great confidence” in the country’s retail sector.
Located on Burmarrad Road, the budget-supermarket chain’s new store will offer a range of over 3,500 products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, along with an in-store bakery with bread and pastries being produced on a daily basis.
Additionally, Lidl has constantly increased its Maltese product base, working hand in hand with local suppliers to offer a wide selection of product categories that allow customers to be able to make all the necessary purchases in a single store at an “excellent quality-price ratio”.
Its new store represents the second to launch in 2022, following the opening of a supermarket in Triq Amery, Sliema in February.
Commenting on the opening, Lidl Malta Country Director Gianluca Celentano said that the company has been “investing in Malta for more than 14 years”, and the launch of a new store in a “completely new” area of the country signals another “significant breakthrough locally”.
“I trust that Lidl’s new store in Burmarrad will continue to enrich our customers’ experience. Thanks to this new announced investment, we will be improving the country’s economic drive, with the creation of 17 new jobs,” he added.
The Burmarrad store will be open from Sunday till Wednesday from 7am till 9pm, and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7am till 10pm.
