ASG Pharma Ltd has just been granted European Union Good Manufacturing Practices certification by the Malta Medicines Authority for the production of cannabis for medicinal and research purposes.

ASG Pharma is a subsidiary of the Canadian-based Aphria Inc., which produces, supplies, and sells medical marijuana.

The certification provides the company with the ability to ship finished dried flower and finished oil for medicinal and research use in permitted jurisdictions throughout the EU.

Aphria’s Chief Executive Officer, Irwin D. Simon, noted that ASG in Malta is the company’s third facility to achieve such a milestone. “We remain excited about growth opportunities as this increases our ability to serve, and further strengthens Aphria’s leadership, in the European Union,” he said.

ASG is a high-capacity lab positioned to become a cornerstone for testing and research and development of medical cannabis in Europe. In addition, ASG will provide additional capacity for importing, processing, packaging, and distribution of the company’s EU-GMP certified cannabis products in Europe.
