Lufthansa Technik has announced an investment in a massive 6,200 panel solar farm.

The project will see the panels installed across 24,000 m² of hangar rooftops.

“Following authorisation from the Regulator for Energy and Water Services through an Invitation to Bid, we are investing in a 4 MWp photovoltaic system, set to become one of Malta’s largest solar installations,” the company said.

Facilities Manager Danilo Overend said: “sustainability is a key pillar of our strategy.”

This project, he said, would support Lufthansa Group’s carbon reduction targets, and strengthen it commitment to more sustainable aviation.
