Retail company Lidl Malta Ltd has donated €15,000 to Caritas Malta Foundation, it announced on Wednesday.

The donation came on the occasion of the 15th anniversary since the retailer landed in Malta.

Lidl has been present in Malta since 2008, with the first store being opened in Santa Venera. Today, the retail company operates 10 stores across the Maltese Islands, with the 10th store opened last year on the former site of Scotts Supermarket in Burmarrad. In the same year, the company also inaugurated a new logistics centre in the same locality, with this serving as a supply for all of Lidl’s stores in Malta.

The donation was also made in bid to commemorate Caritas Malta Foundation’s 55th anniversary, with Lidl Malta celebrating the “invaluable service and commitment to the community” that the charity provides.

Caritas Malta Foundation is a charity that was set up in the bid to alleviate poverty and promote human development and social justice, witnessing to the Christian faith and Gospel values.

“This double-significant ceremony is a testament to Lidl Malta’s unwavering commitment to helping and empowering those in need,” Lidl Malta stated.
