INDIS, together with Malta Enterprise is exploring a "variety of solutions" in response to the recent eviction of Dutch firm Aviation Cosmetics Malta (ACM) from a Government-owned hangar.
In comments made to WhosWho.mt, the state agency responsible for managing the country's industrial parks says Malta is attracting more interest from aviation-related businesses, "particularly in the area of aviation coat spraying."
It says "the growing appeal of Malta as a destination for such enterprises is evident, and efforts are ongoing to facilitate further opportunities within this sector."
The development follows a ruling delivered earlier this month by Magistrate Claudio Zammit, which ordered ACM to vacate the premises within 15 days and settle €453,000 in unpaid rent after failing to meet its lease obligations over a two-year period.
Addressing concerns about employees affected by the eviction, INDIS pointed to reassurances issued through a General Workers’ Union (GWU) press release and statements by the responsible Minister.
“Both sources confirm that all employees’ wages remain secure, addressing concerns regarding the financial wellbeing of staff affected by the eviction,” INDIS said.
The clarification comes amid broader scrutiny of ACM’s financial situation, which had deteriorated significantly in recent years. The company had accumulated substantial debt, reported losses nearing €1 million in 2023, and faced multiple legal actions from creditors, including garnishee orders and warrants of seizure.
ACM, which specialises in aircraft painting and finishing services, had been operating in Malta since 2013 with the support of Malta Enterprise incentives. However, its financial difficulties ultimately led to the court ruling and eviction.
