A renewable energy project has been completed at Terminal Donato Bramante in the Port of Civitavecchia, Rome, which APS Bank had financed as part of the development of Roma Cruise Terminal (RCT).

Developed and built by Zilio Group, the large-scale installation brings together photovoltaic energy generation, battery storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

It comprises 361 solar modules, a 200-kWh battery storage system and two electric vehicle charging stations. Technical simulations estimate annual energy generation of approximately 383.79 MWh and a Performance Ratio of 91 per cent, exceeding the industry benchmark of around 80 per cent. This output could contribute to a reduction of approximately 143 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year.

Terminal Donato Bramante was completed and inaugurated in 2025 to complement the existing Terminal Amerigo Vespucci and increase passenger reception capacity at the Port of Civitavecchia, which, with more than 3.55 million passengers passing through in 2025, continues to rank among the world’s leading cruise hubs. RCT is equally owned by Costa Crociere Spa, Marinvest Srl (MSC) and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, three of the world’s largest cruise companies.
