Lidl Malta has formally renewed its supporting partnership with the St Jeanne Antide Foundation for the upcoming 2026/2027 scholastic year, marking the third consecutive year the retailer is contributing to the NGO’s initiative aimed at assisting school children facing food insecurity across Malta.

The decision to extend this corporate backing follows a successful 2025/2026 scholastic year. Over those nine months, Lidl Malta contributed close to €10,000 worth of groceries, enabling the foundation’s team to prepare and distribute ingredients for close to 6,000 healthy school lunches. This direct intervention supported nearly 40 children and offered crucial relief to local families.

Through the foundation’s 'Nourishing Young Minds' campaign, Lidl Malta will continue donating essential food items throughout the academic calendar. The NGO-led programme provides fresh and nutritious ingredients needed to prepare balanced daily school lunches to primary and secondary students who risk attending school without adequate nutrition. Beyond easing the immediate financial pressure on low-income households and families in need, the initiative seeks to preserve the dignity and role of parents and caregivers by enabling them to prepare and provide their children’s school lunches themselves, just as other families do.

"This partnership holds a very special place within our organisation. Education is undoubtedly vital for a young person's future, but true progress can only happen when every child has equal opportunities to learn and grow. A nutritious lunch shouldn't be a privilege, and we want to ensure every family in our community feels supported” states Owen Micallef, Lidl Malta Director.

“By continuing our support for the St Jeanne Antide Foundation into a third year, we are proud to play our part in helping them provide students with the wholesome meals they need to succeed in class and reach their full potential."

“For us, Nourishing Young Minds is about much more than providing food. It is about ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent a parent from being able to prepare a nutritious school lunch for their child.

“By providing families with the ingredients they need, we are offering practical support while preserving their dignity and their role as parents and caregivers. Lidl Malta’s continued commitment for a third scholastic year gives us the consistency to support families throughout the school year, and we are deeply grateful for a partnership that recognises both the needs of children and the dignity of the families behind them,” said Melanie Piscopo, Executive Director of the St Jeanne Antide Foundation.
