The launch took place on 26th June 2025, unveiling a programme aligned with the National Lifelong Learning Strategy 2023-2030 and the National Education Strategy 2024-2025.
This initiative aims to build a more skilled, knowledgeable, and resilient society. The DLE is introducing a programme with over 400 courses in 100 different subjects.
New and innovative course offerings
The prospectus includes new and innovative courses across several categories:
- Business, science and technology: New additions include various science subjects, digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and accounting at different levels.
- Creative arts: This section now features unique courses such as gold embroidery, fretwork, and mosaic works.
- Humanities and personal development: New offerings include parental skills, pastry and baking, and sociology.
- Languages: Learners can benefit from new conversation classes in French, German, and Italian. A specialised business English course is also available.
To ensure proper placement, new tests for Maltese, English, and foreign language courses have been introduced.
Flexible learning options
A key feature of the new prospectus is its enhanced flexibility, offering various learning methods to suit different needs:
- Traditional face-to-face classes.
- Live online lessons.
- Self-paced asynchronous courses for learning on one's own schedule.
- A special mixed-method approach of live and recorded online sessions is available for shift workers.
Eligibility and accessibility
- Eligibility: Courses are accessible to anyone aged 15 or over residing in Malta.
- Subsidised fees and fee waivers: Senior citizens aged 60 and over are entitled to one free course per year. Fee exemptions are also in place for recipients of social benefits and holders of a disability card. All courses are subsifdised by the Government of Malta.
- Locations: Learning is brought to the community through main centres in Msida, Mriehel, Blata l-Bajda, Mosta, and Rabat (Gozo). A new adult learning centre has also been introduced in Kirkop. Collaborations with various local councils and parishes across Malta and Gozo further extend accessibility.

- Self-Paced courses: For those interested in flexible self-paced courses, applications will remain open until 13th March 2026.
- Application methods: Prospective learners can apply online at lifelonglearning.gov.mt or in person at Servizz.gov hubs or their local council.
Positive feedback and success
The program's growing popularity is evident, with over 7,000 applicants in the last academic year. The success is also reflected in positive feedback from learners. One learner noted, "the course boosted my confidence and has already helped me in my work." Another praised the flexibility, stating the "self-paced online format... allowed me to learn in my own time at my own pace."
With its mission to empower individuals through a learner-centred approach, DLE encourages everyone to continue their educational journey.
