KM Malta airlines and Turkish Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement to operate joint flights, effective as of 15th June 2024.

In recent months, KM Malta Airlines has made various codeshare agreements including with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa Group and Air France.

This agreement will provide passengers of both flag carrier airlines with more flexible travel options on direct flights between Istanbul and Malta.

Within the scope of the cooperation, KM Malta Airlines will place their marketing flight numbers on Turkish Airlines’ flights between Istanbul and Malta and vice versa.

KM Malta’s Executive Chairman, David Curmi, noted that Istanbul is “a major hub connected with Malta twice every day, offering Maltese customers a large choice of destinations.”

He remarked that, “[the agreement] allows our international customers enhanced connectivity through Malta International Airport, linking both our networks. It also shows that KM Malta Airlines is recognised by large carriers as a partner of choice.”

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said that this agreement will foster cooperation between the two countries while providing a seamless journey for passengers flying from Malta and Türkiye.

He commented that through this partnership both countries will benefit from more visitors. “Malta, the fascinating island nation of the Mediterranean, will attract more visitors. We look forward to a successful, long-standing collaboration together,” he continued.

The codeshare flights will be available for purchase through the airlines’ respective sales channels.

Established in 1933, with a fleet of five aircraft, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 456 (passenger and cargo) aircraft. It flies to 346 worldwide destinations including 293 international and 53 domestic in 130 countries.

Turkish Airlines bills itself as the airline that “flies to more countries than any other airline in the world.”
