Earlier today, the Centre for Distributed Ledger Technologies at the University of Malta announced that Joshua Ellul has stepped down from his role as Director of the Centre due to taking a sabbatical.
“I thoroughly enjoyed setting up the Centre for Distributed Ledger Technologies at University of Malta and being its Director for the first two terms, yet it is time for a sabbatical… I would like to thank all the board members, lecturers, researchers, admin staff, and students that I had the pleasure of interacting with over the past years, and look forward to what the future holds on my return,” wrote the former Director on his social channel.
Dr Ellul is also an Associate Editor at IET Blockchain Journal, a fully open-access journal led by researchers from world-renowned institutions, which reports fundamental research results, progressive technologies, and emerging applications of blockchain technology.
He also served as Chairman of the MDIA for four years before stepping down to focus on his academic career.
The new Director will be John Revolidis, and Dr Ellul said that he “cannot think of anyone better than” him.
Dr Revolidis has been a Lecturer of Media, Communications and Technology Law at the university for more than three years now, and his research focuses on internet law, law and information, human rights, and copyrights, amongst other things.
