Jean Claude Micallef, former TV producer and host as well as Member of Parliament (MP), has been appointed CEO for the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport.

Sharing the appointment on social media, Mr Micallef welcomed his appointment by Chairman Antonio Mizzi.

He commented that he will be starting his work at the authority on Wednesday (tomorrow) and will hold a press conference once he meets with Board members.

“Integrity in Maltese sport goes beyond athletes. While I salute Luciano Busuttil, who held the position of CEO since the authority’s inception, I look forward with enthusiasm for the new chapter at AiMS,” he said.

The AiMS is a regulatory body established to safeguard the integrity of sports across the nation to promote fair play, honesty, and respect in all sporting activities.

The authority brings together experts in sport administration, ethics, and law enforcement to create a framework for protecting sports’ values in Malta. Furthermore, its accredited Sport Integrity Officers, trained by global partners, equip everyone involved in sport – athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and stakeholders, with the knowledge to tackle threats to the integrity of sport.

Mr Micallef first contested the general election in May 2017 but was elected through a casual election after Helena Dalli was appointed European Commissioner. Later he was appointed as President of the Parliamentary Committee for Economic and Financial affairs, Head of Delegation for the OSCE and Head of Delegation of the Union for the Mediterranean.
