Chef Laszlo Sragli has returned to Fernandõ Gastrotheque in Sliema, marking a notable development for the restaurant where he previously led the kitchen during the start of its Michelin-starred period.

The Hungarian-born chef, who has over 20 years of experience in the fine dining sector, had been at the helm when the restaurant was awarded one Michelin star years ago. His return signals a renewed focus on culinary direction at the Sliema-based establishment.

Chef Sragli has been based in Malta for more than 15 years and has built a career across the local hospitality scene, alongside experience gained in Europe and South East Asia. Over the years, he has taken on roles that included setting up and designing kitchens, managing and training teams, and overseeing operations aimed at maintaining consistent quality.

His culinary style draws on a mix of Mediterranean, French and contemporary influences. In 2023, he was awarded a Michelin star, with inspectors noting his “Mediterranean dishes with the occasional touch and plenty of character, all prepared from the best seasonal ingredients.”

In addition to menu development, his work has typically focused on sourcing high-quality ingredients and delivering a refined dining experience.

His return to Fernandõ Gastrotheque places him once again at the centre of a kitchen he previously helped bring to Michelin recognition, as the restaurant looks ahead to its next phase.
