The management congratulated her and added that it is “so proud” of her and the accomplishments she has fulfilled, and is looking forward to her “continued success” in her new position.

Commenting on her new role, Ms Caruana Smith remarked that she is “thrilled and grateful to take on this new challenge and lead the corporate and luxury sales team towards further success”.

“My goal is to establish a stronger sales strategy that will increase revenue, further increase our market presence, and of course enhance our customer experience. I am confident that my experience and skills will enable me to bring new ideas to the table and drive the sales team to achieve our targets,” she added.

She concluded by saying that she is eager to work with the hotel’s “talented and dedicated” sales team in order to reach their “common goals and create a brighter future for InterContinental Malta”.

She celebrated her fourth anniversary at the company last November, following more than 17 years as Duty Manager at Hilton Malta.

InterContinental Malta, which hosts 481 bedrooms, six restaurants and six bars, opened its doors in 2003. Ms Caruana Smith had remarked that she is looking forward to “more years of success, progression, and innovation” at the hotel, having celebrated 20 years since its launch last month. It forms part of InterContinental Hotels Group plc, a UK-based multinational hospitality company that operates more than 6,000 hotels under a number of brands in over 100 countries.
