We’ve all been there; at a certain age, a bit of cleanser and moisturiser just won’t cut it. Lines start appearing where, before, we enjoyed a smooth canvas. Skin starts going south – and, for many women, our self-confidence starts going with it.
“When we hit perimenopause, our physiology starts undergoing changes, many of them driven by hormones,” explains Denise Marston, Founder of DEA Aesthetics.
“Collagen decreases, leading to a loss of firmness in face and body. Nowadays, society’s expectations are such that this is no longer a beauty-related issue. Many women end up facing psychological pressures and a loss of confidence. Our society doesn’t look too kindly upon ageing – especially when it comes to women.”
At this point, many women start looking for fast solutions, whether in the shape of injectables, fat dissolvents, lifts or tummy tucks. However, as Denise points out, it’s important to create a holistic plan of action that is specifically tailored for the client’s needs.
“If a client comes to DEA Aesthetics, complaining that she’s gained a tummy upon hitting menopause, I don’t take the easy way out and offer a tummy tuck. Sure, this would remove the problem temporarily. But, without a lifestyle adjustment, the fat will simply creep back again,” she explains.
This approach has earned Denise various industry awards and accolades. In fact, while I’m conducting this interview, she is on her way to receive yet another accolade – the prestigious Women of Heart Awards in Dubai.
The global event celebrates the achievements and contributions of women across various fields. It recognises those making a difference in their communities and the world, highlighting their inspiring stories and impactful work. The award recognises her as a global leader in aesthetics and wellness, an international aesthetics trainer and a wellness innovator.
So how does Denise support women while helping them resolve specific issues? She explains that the ideal treatments go beyond the superficial level. And this is exactly what she offers at DEA Aesthetics, a comprehensive approach that targets the issues at their source.
“We offer a way to ensure that a client’s aesthetic care is supported from all angles. We have a team of medical professionals in charge of med-aesthetic procedures like Profilo and other injectables. We have qualified nutritionists who will help you improve your eating and lifestyle habits. And we have aestheticians specialising in different types of beauty treatments. Whatever the skin, face and body needs, our team ensures that the appropriate care is offered,” she tells me.
Even beyond that, the wellness angle is equally important to Denise. Because of this, DEA now includes the services of a naturopathic doctor and clinical hypnotherapist focusing on natural remedies.
“We take a natural approach to help people cope with addictions and other issues that stem from trauma. And we're working with clients who face challenging addictions, whether related to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, food, fear…” she says.
For Denise, reaching this stage at DEA has been a personal journey, one that she believes in and that stems from a desire to help others feel better about themselves.
“Clients are not just a number for me, and my motivation is passion to help people live happier within their own skin. It’s important for me that the whole team believes in the services that are being provided. Where appropriate, we test these services on ourselves. I don’t want to offer something unless I can personally see that it works,” Denise continues.
Thanks to this approach, DEA offers a cutting-edge portfolio of treatments that include medically-administered injectables, skin tightening and lifting, fat dissolvents, thread-lifting, collagen boosters, and cellulite treatments, alongside other med-aesthetic procedures. In addition, there is a range of machine-based therapies accessible, such as ultra-sound radio frequency, cavitation, EMS and HIFU for both the face and the body.
“We tackle clients on a case-by-case basis as there’s no one solution that fits all. We analyse the specific needs of the individual and create a programme. I should add that, at DEA, we are big fans of using natural, biodegradable material, when possible,” she asserts.
And finally, it is also all about prevention and a good home and clinic regimen that supports it.
“I equip clients with all the information and processes necessary to maintain a healthy approach. The goal is to make sure that they’re happy with themselves in the long-term, and not to provide shortcuts that take them back to square one in a couple of weeks,” Denise concludes.
