HSBC Bank Malta plc has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Hardy as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), subject to regulatory approval, at a date still to be determined.

Mrs Hardy will be succeeding Nikolaos Fertakis who will be taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer for Risk for HSBC Europe.

Mrs Hardy, presently residing in Milan, has been with HSBC since 1982.

She is currently COO HSBC France, Milan Branch, after previously occupying similar roles in Russia and Kazakhstan.

Other roles held by Mrs Hardy include inter alia: Senior Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance HSBC UK; Manager HR Internal Control HSBC UK; and Vice President Operations at HSBC Data Processing (Shanghai) Ltd (SPC) China. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of East Anglia, UK.

“No matter concerning Mrs Hardy requires disclosure under Listing Rules 5.20.5 to 5.20.9.”

Once regulatory approval is received, she will only take up her position when the COVID-19 situation makes it appropriate to do so, HSBC Malta said in a statement.
