GO plc on Tuesday announced the resignation of its Chairman and Director, Samir Saied, after he was appointed Minister for Economy and Planification in Tunisia.

As a result, Mr Saied resigned with immediate effect. GO’s Board of Directors thanked him for his “loyal service” and wished him success on this new role.

He had been appointed to the role of Chairman in May 2020. Previously, he had occupied the post of Chairman of BTK Group, a Tunisian affiliate of the French banking Group BPCE and was then appointed Chairman and CEO of Tinisue Telecom, which owns a 65 per cent stake in GO plc.

Mr Saied has also previously occupied the positions General Manager at Société Tunisienne de Banque (STB); CEO of Al Hosn Investment Company; and General Manager of the Oman Development Bank (2003-2013).
