Their story begins with Pavle's accidental arrival in Malta. Originally from Macedonia, Pavle had his sights set on the United States. After spending four summers there, he aimed to make it his permanent home. However, after being denied a visa for the fifth time, fate had other plans. A call from a friend, who was enjoying the sun-kissed beaches of Malta, led Pavle to this Mediterranean island for a three-month stint. Little did he know, this detour would change his life forever.
Simultaneously, Matthew also found himself in Malta spontaneously. Initially arriving for a vacation, he ended up staying for two months, drawn by the island's hospitality and vibrant beach life. During this period, both Pavle and Matthew found themselves working at MedAsia Playa, a bustling beach lounge in Malta. It was a particularly hectic night at 3am when exhausted and hungry, both men sat down with a simple meal of cold pasta and ketchup. This moment marked the beginning of a deep and trusting friendship.

“Our paths continued to intertwine as I returned to Malta the following summer, stepping into a managerial role at the beach club,” says Matthew. “Pavle, already a key figure there, supported me with a professionalism and work ethic that further cemented our bond. Over the next few years, as the beach club closed, we both ventured into new opportunities.”
Pavle, with his background in law and management, sought to establish a business, even venturing into managing a guesthouse. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought these plans to a sudden halt. Matthew, on the other hand, left his job in London to chase the sun and sandy beaches of Malta. Initially working as an accountant, he later pursued a career in real estate, capitalising on Malta's booming market. With a knack for entrepreneurship, he even launched a restaurant, Foam & Fork. But when the pandemic hit, he too faced challenges, prompting him to re-evaluate his career path.
“The real turning point came when I, after losing my job and facing significant financial losses, stumbled upon an advertisement for letting agents,” says Pavle. “I decided to try my hand at real estate, initially struggling with rentals and working tirelessly for little return. Around the same time, Matthew was also exploring property investment, leading us to discuss the potential of collaborating in real estate.”
Their conversations bore fruit as they decided to harness their skills and passion into a joint venture. Pavle's brand, then known as Better Call Pavle, became a foundational piece of their new initiative. They faced numerous challenges, from licensing issues to the emotional toll of navigating a competitive market. Yet, their perseverance paid off when they approached Michael Bonello, Alliance Real Estate Group’s CEO, who saw potential in their ambition and drive.
With an office on Tower Road Sliema promenade, an ideal location for residential luxury sales and letting and commercial sales and letting, Pavle and Matthew began building their team, selecting individuals not solely based on experience but on attitude and potential. They believed in giving opportunities to those from diverse backgrounds, from fast-food workers to those new to the industry, creating a supportive environment that thrived on positivity and enthusiasm.
Today, Alliance by BCP Properties is Alliance’s 24th branch opening and stands as one of the top offices within this award-winning real estate group network. Their journey from a chance meeting to business success is an inspiration.
