Seasoned professional Charlene Sciberras has taken the leap into entrepreneurship, starting her own company after Opex Ltd, her previous employer and an organisation she had served as CEO for, ceased operations.

Ms Sciberras made the announcement on Friday (today), stating that after an “extraordinary journey” of over two years at iGaming solutions provider Opex Ltd, her time at the company has come to an end.

She had a rapid climb up the corporate ladder, having initially joined as Head of Human Resources and Office Admin in 2021, before being named CEO in 2023, a position she held up until last month.

“What began as a role in HR and office management quickly transformed into an opportunity to lead operations, and eventually, to step into the role of CEO at Opex Ltd,” she remarked.

“In the face of recent challenges, including the decision of the company owner to cease operations, I chose to view it as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Rather than succumbing to defeat, I rallied my team and committed to forging a new path. Together, we’ve embarked on a journey marked by resilience, determination, and innovation,” Ms Sciberras said.

As time was running out for Opex Ltd, the team did not give up, and instead sought investment, revamped its projects, and launched a new company, Elev8 Solutions Ltd. The company, founded by Ms Sciberras, specialises in providing B2B operational support services tailored for start-ups and growing businesses. She proceeded to thank the team for the support they provided along the way, despite the difficulties faced.

Ms Sciberras also thanked Josef Darmark, the owner of Opex Ltd, for entrusting her with the opportunity to lead the company. “It’s a bittersweet goodbye, but I eagerly anticipate the challenges and opportunities of this new chapter,” she continued.
