DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton’s upscale hotel brand, has reached two key milestones with the opening of its 700th hotel and its expansion into 60 countries and territories.
Over the past year, the brand has added more than 40 new properties to its global portfolio, including Hilton’s first locations in the city of Nice, the country of Laos, and the Azores Islands. It also marked DoubleTree’s entry into the Maltese market.
The brand has grown significantly since 2008, when it first expanded beyond the Americas, with its presence now multiplied more than tenfold.
“Reaching our 700th property opening and expanding into 60 countries and territories highlights the strength of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand, reflecting our unwavering commitment to delivering caring hospitality and remaining a trusted choice for modern business and leisure travelers worldwide,” said Shawn McAteer, brand leader of DoubleTree by Hilton.
The brand’s growth is set to continue, with more than 240 hotels currently in the development pipeline.
Nine upcoming openings will mark DoubleTree’s first presence in several new countries and territories. In the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, where the brand already operates more than 150 hotels, new properties are planned including the DoubleTree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort in Egypt, DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry in Northern Ireland, and DoubleTree by Hilton Casablanca City Centre in Morocco.
In the Asia Pacific region, where 115 properties are currently in operation, the brand will expand further in China, with hotels set to open in cities such as Zhengzhou and Yanji.
DoubleTree also plays a significant role in Hilton’s conversion strategy, providing opportunities for property owners to rebrand under the Hilton portfolio.
