A total of €4,384 has been donated to the Len and Jacob Wellness Fund in memory of the late Adrian Tonna, following his wish for charitable contributions to be made instead of flowers at his funeral mass.
Mr Tonna, a well-known figure in Malta’s hospitality sector and Chief Commercial Officer at the Xara Collection, passed away on 28th November. His death prompted widespread tributes across the industry and beyond.
Many who knew him described him as generous, energetic, and driven by a deep commitment to people – qualities that appear to have continued shaping his impact even after his passing.
The Wellness Fund announced the total amount collected in a statement on social media. Contributions were made through multiple channels:
- GoFundMe: £1,715 (€1,952)
- Direct transfers: €1,895
- Cash donations: €537
This brought the total raised to €4,384.
The organisation expressed profound gratitude to Mr Tonna’s family and to all who contributed. In its message, the fund wrote:
“On behalf of all of us, the parents of Len and Jacob and the entire team behind us, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the family of our dear and beloved Adrian… so many people came together to give generously and lovingly.”
It continued: “Your kindness, strength, and grace during such a difficult time are truly inspiring. Through this gesture, his legacy of compassion continues to touch lives, and his spirit lives on in every act of goodwill made in his memory.”
The donations will go towards the care and support of Len and Jacob, Maltese twins diagnosed with Zellweger disease, a rare genetic condition marked by the absence or severe reduction of functional peroxisomes. This results in significant developmental, neurological, and organ-related complications. While there is no cure, ongoing support and symptom management remain essential for affected families.
Mr Tonna’s career in hospitality was defined by a belief in human connection and by efforts to uplift others. Tributes shared last week frequently referenced his warmth, supportiveness, and ability to bring people together – sentiments mirrored in this charitable initiative carried out in his memory.
The Len and Jacob Wellness Fund closed its message with a final note of appreciation: “Thank you for allowing us to be part of this meaningful tribute. We hold you all close in our hearts and keep our dear Adrian forever in our thoughts.”
Mr Tonna is remembered not only for his contribution to Malta’s tourism and hospitality sector, but also for a lasting legacy of kindness that continues to resonate with the community.
