Daniel Grech, a financial advisor at Grant Thornton Malta, has achieved a significant milestone, ranking 1st in Malta and 23rd globally in the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) examinations.
Grant Thornton Malta, a leading professional services firm providing audit, tax and advisory, announced this on their Facebook page, congratulating Mr Grech on his results.
Mr Grech holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, both from the University of Malta, as well as a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Groningen.
His most recent achievement was in the Financial Reporting (FR) module of the Applied Skills level, one of the core components of the ACCA qualification. This module emphasises the application of accounting standards in the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements.
The ACCA qualification is internationally recognised and is considered equivalent to a Master’s degree in many countries.
Speaking to WhosWho.mt, Mr Grech expressed that when he discovered his ranking in the exam he was actually quite surprised.
"As I am currently progressing through the ACCA qualification whilst also working full time, the time that I had available to dedicate to studying was dramatically less to what I was able to dedicate back when I was a full-time student," he said.
"However, I feel that this added pressure helps me focus my efforts, managing my time better and creating time to study whenever I can," he continued.
In discussing his future goals, Mr Grech highlighted the strong synergy between accounting and economics.
"My work, which consists of financial advisory and business consulting, both straddle the line between both subjects, with a diverse skillset being needed to excel in this career," he said.
He concluded: "My goal is to continually expand my skillset and to continue to advance in this line of work."
