Two upcoming Corinthia hotels have been named by prestigious luxury publication Robb Report among the ’50 most hotly anticipated luxury hotel openings of the year’.

The publication’s ‘must visit’ properties include Corinthia Bucharest and Corinthia Rome which are both due to open this year.

Robb Report said of Corinthia’s hotel in the Romanian capital: “Corinthia started out as a luxury hotel in the heart of Malta in the town of Attard, before opening a satellite spot in central London. Now, the family behind the chain, the Pisanis, are aggressively pursuing global expansion for the brand, adding new locations around the world from New York to Rome, but retaining their signature attention to detail (and spectacular spa)."

Travel website Black Tomato’s travel expert Sunil Metcalfe is intrigued by the new hotels, noting that the upcoming Corinthia Bucharest is a 30-suite property in a once-faded grande dame hotel known as the Grand Hotel du Boulevard where Sarah Bernhardt was among previous guests.

On Corinthia Rome, Robb Report said: “Corinthia is on an expansion spree with a new opening in New York (dubbed The Surrey), and another 2025 debut in Bucharest (early spring).”

he website added that the new luxury property in Rome is set to join the city's growing portfolio of five-star hotels, which have seen several notable openings in the past two years, including Six Senses, Bulgari, and ROMEO.

Similar to these establishments, the new hotel will be housed in a heritage building, specifically the former seat of the Central Bank of Italy in the central Campo Marzio area. It will feature 60 accommodations, comprising 39 bedrooms and 21 junior suites and suites.

The property, however, is expected to distinguish itself with unique amenities, such as an underground spa designed by 111 Skin London and Essenzialmente Laura, offering three treatment rooms and two plunge pools.

Chef Carlo Cracco will oversee the food and beverage offerings, which include interconnected ground-floor dining spaces: A Garden Lounge, a fine-dining restaurant called Cracco’s Saloni, and the Gold Bar, a cocktail venue.
