Marketing lecturer and specialist Claudette Buttigieg has been appointed Senior Executive Officer at RIDT University of Malta Research Trust, she announced on Thursday.
Established in 2011, RIDT seeks to strengthen investment in “high-calibre research and development” across each faculty and department at University of Malta, as well as on a national level, in order to allow the commercial exploitation of such studies. This is done by attracting funds from private and corporate bodies and has led to a number of community-financed initiatives and projects, such as PhD scholarships in cancer research and in climate change, an engineering research programme and a kidney research programme, among others.
Apart from her new role, Ms Buttigieg is also a Professional Knowledge and Skills Lecturer at MCAST, as well as a Part-time Lecturer in Branding and Tourism along with Marketing and Management of Culture at University of Malta.
She also has experience working as Project Coordinator in a self-employed position for almost four years, and as a Human Resources Manager at Media.link Communications for over a year.
Ms Buttigieg is well known in the local political scene serving as a member of the Nationalist Party and as a Member of Parliament. She is currently serving as Shadow Minister for Civil Liberties, Social Dialogue and Diabetes at Parliament of Malta.
Additionally, she also represented Malta in the 2000 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, and was the only television presenter that worked with the main three local television networks, One TV, NET TV, and TVM.
Ms Buttigieg holds a D Lit. D.A.M.S from Università di Bologna, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Education from University of Malta. She is also a Certified Digital Marketing Professional in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia from Digital Marketing Institute.
