Bigbon Group’s story is one of vision, perseverance, and remarkable transformation.

It begins in the early 1950s, when Carmelo Gauci ventured into the world of commerce as a materials and fabrics trader. Starting humbly as a hawker, Mr Gauci's entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen set the foundation for what would eventually become one of Malta’s leading retail and wholesale enterprises.

Today, Bigbon Group is a proud reflection of the Gauci family’s enduring vision. It remains family-owned, with Bernard and Mario Gauci at the helm, ensuring the business continues to thrive in an ever-evolving retail landscape.

A key factor in Bigbon Group’s success is its strategic partnership with the Spanish retail powerhouse, Inditex Group. This year, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the group as it celebrates 30 years of Pull&Bear in Malta, a landmark achievement that marked Inditex’s entry into the Maltese market. This partnership has been a cornerstone of Bigbon Group’s success, showcasing its ability to collaborate with global retail giants.

Today Bigbon Group is the exclusive representative of several iconic brands under the Inditex umbrella within the Maltese Islands, including Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho, and Massimo Dutti. These globally recognised names have become synonymous with quality, style, and innovation, making them a perfect match for Bigbon Group’s commitment to excellence.

As a trusted partner of Inditex, Bigbon Group has established itself as a leader in the fast fashion sector on the Maltese Islands. The group’s ability to adapt to the fast-paced nature of this industry has been a hallmark of its success over the years, enabling it to consistently meet the evolving demands of customers. This adaptability has also allowed Bigbon Group to attract and retain top talent, fostering a team of dedicated professionals who share the company’s passion for delivering exceptional retail experiences.

Today Bigbon Group’s presence is firmly established across Malta, with 12 stores strategically located in key retail hubs mainly The Point Shopping Mall, Shoreline Mall, and Valletta.  Shoreline Mall, in particular, represents a new chapter in Bigbon Group’s journey. Positioned in the southern part of the island, it caters especially to residents in Malta’s harbour and southern regions. Bigbon Group’s stores at Shoreline Mall reflect its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, providing a holistic and enjoyable retail environment.

This comprehensive refurbishment will bring all five stores in The Point Mall in line with the high standards set at Shoreline Mall. The upgrades will include modernised interiors, enhanced facilities, and innovative designs that prioritise customer comfort, convenience, and most importantly, experience. By investing in these improvements, Bigbon Group aims to ensure its stores remain at the forefront of Malta’s retail landscape.

From its humble beginnings as a small family-run operation to its current status as a leader in retail, Bigbon Group’s journey is a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and innovation. The company’s success is deeply rooted in the values instilled by its founder, Carmelo Gauci, and carried forward by his family. These values continue to guide Bigbon Group as it embraces new challenges and opportunities in an ever-changing market.

As Bigbon Group looks to the future, it remains dedicated to delivering exceptional value to its customers, fostering strong partnerships, and upholding the legacy of excellence that has defined its journey for over seven decades.
