A well-known name across the business community, especially within Malta’s legal profession and in particular maritime law circles, Ann Fenech, has been re-elected as Vice President of Comité Maritime International (CMI), a not-for-profit organisation.
Dr Fenech will be taking on the role for a second time while the leading maritime lawyer co-chairs the International Working Group on Judicial Sales. She is also the organisation’s co-ordinator at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
She takes on the role of Vice President together with Dieter Schwampe, and in comments posted to social media, said:
"I am truly honoured by this and look forward to another three years of exciting work towards the unification of international maritime law."
The organisation was established in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1897 with the aim of aiding the unification of maritime law across Europe and beyond. This work sees CMI promote the establishment of national associations of maritime law as well as cooperation with other international organisations.
Fenech & Fenech Advocates was established back in 1891, making it one of Malta’s oldest law firms. The firm is well-versed in multiple disciplines and balances a forward-looking and dynamic task force based on tradition and excellence.
Dr Fenech today holds the position of senior partner with the firm as well as head of its Marine Litigation Department. She held the position of Managing Partner between 2008 and 2020.
