Stephen Gauci is set to leave his role as Head of Corporate Communications at Air Malta plc after 27 years, he announced on Monday, with effect from 15th July 2022.

Mr Gauci described his time at the airline as “an enriching experience,” adding that he will “forever be grateful for the opportunity to work on amazing projects including various restructuring processes, re-brandings, public relations stunts, press conferences, press trips, interviews, and other important events and milestones for the airline”.

He thanked the local press for their “continued support to the airline,” as well as to him while he led the Communications Department throughout the years.

He said that he met most of them personally during the airline’s events, and while he did not meet them as regularly over the last two years, they “stayed in touch via email or telephone calls”.

“I enjoyed and appreciated every second on the job and it was a learning and satisfying experience all throughout,” Mr Gauci concluded.

Described as a "legend" within the local general aviation scene, Mr Gauci managed to find success in the role despite the multiple restructuring and cost-cutting efforts at Air Malta.

He has a multitude of accomplishments, including a Masters degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and a Bachelors (Hons.) in Communications both from the University of Malta, as well as a Private Pilot Licence.
