The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Malta, Erdeniz Şen, has passed away. He had been serving in the role since 23rd February 2023.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, expressed deep sorrow upon receiving the news of Ambassador Şen’s passing, describing him as “a distinguished diplomat and a true friend of Malta.”

“His dedication and commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly through parliamentary diplomacy, will be fondly remembered and deeply missed,” Speaker Farrugia said.

Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg also paid tribute, stating: “His dedication to diplomacy and service to his country will be remembered with respect.”

President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono released a statement acknowledging Ambassador Şen’s efforts during his time in Malta. “During his term as Ambassador to Malta, Mr Şen distinguished himself as a dedicated and devoted diplomat, who contributed to the strengthening of relations between our countries with unwavering commitment,” she remarked.
