A total of 800,000kgs of medical supplies will be brought to Malta through a partnership with Qatar Airways.
Air Malta have partnered up with Qatar Airways to bring over the supplies over a series of eight flights, the first of which arrived yesterday. The flights have been organised for the Central Procurement and Supplies Unit (CPSU).
Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, politically responsible for Air Malta, shared the news on social media.
Today, Superintendent of Public Health Charmaine Gauci also confirmed that a large consignment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) arrived in Malta, stressing the difficulty of procuring goods that are in high demand across the world.
She made the remarks during her daily press briefing to update the nation on COVID-19 figures. One new infection has been found, while another person has died and a total of 26 have recovered.
This brings the total of active cases to 195, with total recovered reaching 249. Malta has registered a total of 448 cases since the pandemic reached its shores.
