Aspiring young chefs, waiters and mixologists will soon compete for the chance to represent Malta for the first time at the World Young Chef, Young Waiter and Young Mixologist Finals in London.
On 26th January, young hospitality professionals – aged 28 and under – will compete at the ION Harbour by Simon Rogan in Valletta for the titles of most exciting emergent chef, waiter and mixologist.
They must carry out a live, high-pressure restaurant service in front of Michelin-starred chefs, industry leads, global brands and international media.
The chefs will be judged by Andrew Borg, executive chef at Le GV, Christian Cali, Executive Chef at ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, and Paul Greening, Culinary Director for db Group.
The waiters will be judged by James Christie, F&B and Restaurant Manager at ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, Josef Bonello, Wine Ambassador for Wines of Malta and Gozo at the Malta Tourism Authority, and Sean Cuthbertson, F&B Manager, at the Corinthia Hotels and Radisson Blu Resort.
The mixologists will be judged by Stanislav Pozhydaiev, Head Bartender at ION Harbour by Simon Rogan, and William Campbell-Rowntree, a and Senior Sales Manager at NEFT Vodka and Ex London Bar Guru)
The three category winners will then represent Malta at the World Young Chef, Young Waiter and Young Mixologist World Finals in London in March, where they will have a chance to win up to €13,000.
