Having joined in 2004, this year marks Norman Aquilina’s twentieth year at Simonds Farsons Cisk Plc.

Over these twenty years, the company has lived through major socio-economic changes, notably triggered following Malta’s EU accession in 2004.

This eventually brought about market liberalisation of the beverage sector in 2008, “which was in many ways a game-changer for our business, moving from protected to open and highly competitive market conditions,” he shares with WhosWho.mt

This period coincided with Mr Aquilina’s appointment, as he transitioned from his role as Group Chief Commercial Officer to CEO in 2009/2010.

“Despite recurring and challenging headwinds encountered throughout these two decades, collectively we have made significant and consistent progress, as indeed reflected in our results,” he states.

On a personal note, “it has been an exhilarating journey”.

Going forward, Mr Aquilina is of the understanding that as long as your mindset continues to be primarily driven by what gets you out of bed in the morning, rather than what keeps you awake at night, “then you remain in a good place”.
