His professional career having started almost 35 years ago with a big four firm, Marcel Cassar then moved to bank regulation and supervision.

“Since 1996, I have held senior executive positions in banking and financial services,” he says. Between 2018 and 2020, he served as Chair for the Malta Banking Authority, and was again elected to the role in June 2022. 

A Certified Public Accountant, Mr Cassar is member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and hold an MBA in bank financial management. He lectures at the University of Malta and makes regular conference contributions.
