After qualifying as a lawyer in 1995, Malcolm Mifsud was engaged as an Associate in one of Malta’s largest law firms. He then branched out on his own in 1998 and participated in partnerships that developed into Mifsud & Mifsud Advocates, which he co-founded with his brother, Cedric, in 2007.

“I possess vast experience in civil and commercial litigation and, as a result, have advised individuals, corporate structures and public institutions, whether in Malta or abroad, on a wide range of legal issues,” he says.

As Advocate for Legal Aid, Dr Mifsud assisted clients in criminal trial by juries and was among the lawyers with the widest experience in such judicial procedures.

Being responsible for and regularly advising in civil, corporate and commercial law and litigation, he is the firm’s accredited agent at Identity Malta and advises and represents clients on the various immigration schemes that exist. "I give advice to a number of major companies in Malta, apart from sitting on the Board of Directors of several Maltese companies," he notes.

In addition, Dr Mifsud is a shareholder and Director of Aegis Corporate Services Ltd, a corporate service provider licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority.

He was elected mayor of the locality he resided in five times between 1994 and 2013 and also served as President of the Central Region in 2009. He sat as Member on the Committee of Regions in Brussels and participated in a number of EU committees on a variety of subjects between the time Malta joined the EU and 2013.
