Ann Fenech heads the Marine Litigation Department at Fenech & Fenech, where she served as Managing Partner between 2008 and 2020. In 1986, she had joined HFW London and then moved to Chaffe McCall Phillips Toler and Sarpy in New Orleans in 1991.

“I created the Marine Litigation Department at Fenech & Fenech and have dealt exclusively with maritime issues for the past 37 years,” she explains.

Dr Fenech lectures at the University of Malta and the International Maritime Law Institute. She was the President of the Malta Maritime Law Association from 2008 to 2022, Board Member of the European Maritime Law Organisation and founding Board Member of the Malta Maritime Forum.

In October 2022, Dr Fenech was elected to the highly prestigious role of Comité Maritime International President. The organisation is 125-years old and drafts the majority of international maritime legislation. 

The seasoned maritime law professional was also the CMI Co-Ordinator at working group VI at UNCITRAL, which worked on the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in December 2022 and which was signed in Beijing in 2023.
