Dedicated to empowering businesses through a diverse range of services, PMY Ventures is the brainchild of Kor Kurt Akin and Ezgi Harmanci, its founders and Managing Directors, who each bring a diverse set of skills and experience to the company.

Ezgi is a lawyer by profession and moved to Malta from Türkiye in 2010. “I’m an entrepreneur at heart and have always had a passion for business. Prior to PMY Ventures, I established my own firm, Harmanci & Partners, and have been providing corporate and advisory services. My legal background, combined with my interest in international business, has been instrumental in my work at PMY Ventures,” she smiles.

Kurt, meanwhile, boasts a solid background in engineering and computer science. “I have an MBA from the London Business School and a keen interest in public policy. My career path has taken me through information technology, international business development, renewable energy, and construction. This diverse skillset has been advantageous in establishing PMY Ventures and managing its many aspects,” he maintains.

Looking at the main opportunities and challenges for PMY Ventures moving forward, the pair agree that the future looks bright. “With our unique struct

Starting out as a collaboration between the two business minds, who “recognised that our skills and networks complemented each other,” PMY Ventures’ initial focus was on trade, and from there, things began to evolve. “We now have a more structured approach on the projects we are going to address, forming three strategic branches: PMY Valletta (Malta), PMY Porto Ercole (Italy), and PMI London (UK),” Ezgi explains.

Elaborating on the businesses under each branch, she continues, “PMY Valletta is our Türkiye-focused trade branch. We represent several leading Turkish brands, including BEYLERBEYI, a premium raki brand and Divan, a premium chocolate brand. PMY Valletta also holds numerous investments across Europe. PMY Porto Ercole, our Italian branch, specialises in sustainable and renewable energy. We have a 5.4-megawatt solar project in Italy, and we're actively seeking other solar and hydrogen opportunities. The London business, meanwhile, is focused on property development.”

That’s certainly plenty to keep them busy, but that’s just the way they like it, Kurt says. “We are continually working on multiple projects. In the UK, we're developing an office-to-residential conversion project. We are consistently exploring new solar and renewable energy opportunities in Italy and trade opportunities in Malta. Additionally, we've recently begun representing a leading probiotics company Next Microbiome,” he notes, highlighting that these are just a few of many exciting developments for PMY Ventures.

Looking at the main opportunities and challenges for PMY Ventures moving forward, the pair agree that the future looks bright. “With our unique struct

“Our recent launch of a procurement and supply business through PMY Valletta is particularly exciting,” Ezgi chips in, adding, “we source building materials, finishes, and furnishings from Türkiye at competitive prices, and the initial focus is on the London market with plans to expand.”

Looking at the main opportunities and challenges for PMY Ventures moving forward, the pair agree that the future looks bright. “With our unique structure and diverse network, we see opportunities across multiple areas. One significant focus is Malta’s emerging MedTech industry; it's a great testing ground for new technologies,” Ezgi affirms.

That’s not to say there aren’t challenges, of course. “Global events, like the war in Ukraine, create challenges for the construction sector due to price fluctuations. Thankfully, Malta's strong economy provides a stable base, and our international presence helps mitigate external factors,” says Kurt.

Considering the company’s wide reach, I ask the Managing Directors where they would like to see PMY Ventures in a year's time, to which Kurt replies humbly. “I envision a well-established operation in Italy, progress on our UK construction project, growth in our MedTech initiatives, and expansion of our trade with North Africa and the Middle East.”

“Sustainability is a key pillar for us,” Ezgi continues, “we want PMY Ventures to be known for doing business differently, with an emphasis on making a positive impact.”

With a view towards continued growth and seizing every opportunity, Kurt concludes, “we also see significant potential for projects between Europe and Africa. We would like to expand our reach not just in North Africa but other regions as well. Additionally, we want to strengthen our presence and trade ties in the Middle East.”
