For GOTO Malta COO Liana Cremona, the future of transport and mobility is certainly electric, and hydro-powered.
She believes that autonomous vehicles will also have a role to play, applying to both the commercial and private-use sector alike.
Liana was speaking on Episode 11 of The Boardroom on the topic of mobility, presented by business-writer Jo Caruana.
At GOTO, customers have access over 450 shared vehicles all over Malta and Gozo, and can rent a vehicle and pay by minute or by hour. Such types of mobility options are fairly new to Malta, where the private vehicle reigns supreme.
Asked about how the company handled the COVID-19 crisis, she said that the pandemic’s developments in Italy allowed the company to take much of the necessary precautions.
Liana commended her team for the speed with which they responded to operational changes and challenges, and said that a new plan was formulated in a short space of time. She was also pleasantly surprised at how well the team gelled and coordinated, considering nobody was in the same room.
She believes that the crisis has caused many to question issues of sustainability, and that an improved work-life balance in 2020, despite it being forced on the world, meant that a level of change in behaviours, attitudes and norms has been attained.
