VB Advocates has announced the passing of Joseph J. Vella, who passed away last week.

Dr Vella, known as ‘Gege’ was described as a “cornerstone of the firm, who dedicated himself tirelessly to the legal profession for over fifty years up until the very end.”

“We are eternally indebted to him for the wealth of knowledge, wisdom and above all high ethical standards, that he imparted on us all at VB," a social media post read.

VB Advocates' legacy spans three generations, when Dr Joseph Vella, Gege’s father, began his civil law practice in 1943. In 2000, Gege merged firms, serving as a respected managing partner specialising in commercial and employment law.

Today, Luca Vella and Karl Briffa, the founders of VB Advocates, draw upon this 80-year legacy, leading a trusted team of lawyers in Malta across generations.

Dr Vella also served as company director of CPHCL Finance plc since its inception in 1999.
