Toyota has once again been confirmed as Malta’s most popular car brand, with 2023 seeing the Japanese automaker register significantly stronger sales and improving its market share.

In a press statement by Debono Group, the brand’s Maltese agent, it celebrated the achievement while noting that Toyota has now been Malta’s favourite brand of car fox six years in a row.

Graziella Van Coillie, Debono Group's Director of Sales, commented: “We are very proud of this result, and we take the trust placed in us very seriously."

As in the previous year, the Aygo X, Yaris and Yaris Cross models emerged as the brand’s most popular on the local market.

The figures were released by Toyota itself, reporting the brand’s “best sales performance yet in Europe,” where it was the second best-selling passenger car brand for a third year running.

Globally, Toyota remains the most popular automaker for the fourth year in a row.
