The KPMG Malta Gaming eSummit 2022 hosted by KPMG in Malta last month, united several key figures in the gambling industry to discuss the latest trends in iGaming.
The event took place on 24th May, with a line-up of 80 speakers from different countries, all offering the attendees with valuable insight that is beneficial for safeguarding their own brand, strengthening their commercial efforts as well capitalising on new horizons.
Throughout the years, the eSummit has continued to grow and has evolved into “one of the most reputable and sought-after events in the global iGaming calendar,” with it leaving its impression in Malta, the Isle of Man, and Gibraltar.
This full-day event attracts over 400 delegates each year and is an invitation-only conference that is reserved for industry leaders.
This year’s event came as part of Malta’s Spring iGaming Week, a notable week for anyone working in the iGaming sphere.
During his open speech, KPMG in Malta Director and Gaming Lead Russell Mifsud highlighted how the eSummit also serves as a platform for KPMG to grow closer to the dynamic industry of iGaming.
“It enables us, as KPMG, to gauge a deep understanding of the sphere from a 360-degree perspective, for the benefit of providing the industry, with a more insightful and conscious offering that is truly aligned with their operational requirements,” he said.
This year’s eSummit was comprised of three tracks: the main room, the regulatory room, and the breakout room.
The main room was mainly focused on commercial considerations, while the regulatory room provided updates on key jurisdictions.
The breakout room looked into matters of operational efficiencies as well as wider company compliance obligations.
Some of the event’s key topics discussed were the pandemic’s transformation of the global online gambling industry and the convergence of gambling with the sports, media and videogame industries.
“The online gambling industry continues to evolve at breakneck speed and as the sphere becomes increasingly more complex, then the need to anticipate the emerging trends, whilst managing the obligations of the industry at large, will grow tremendously,’ Mr Mifsud added.
Concluding, he said that “great rewards are in store for those who navigate correctly, whilst looming struggles await those who don’t, that’s my prediction for what’s to come”.
In between the sessions, delegates were also given several networking opportunities, such as during breakfast, coffee breaks, the sit-down lunch, and also the drinks mixer on the terrace that closed off the eventful day.
KPMG in Malta also thanked the eSummit partners, sponsors and speakers for their support, “without whom this event would not be viable”.
KPMG in Malta is a member firm of the KPMG global organisation of firms affiliated with KPMG International Limited, a firm dedicated to providing professional audit, tax, and advisory services, with operations in 145 countries and territories.
