On Monday evening, journalist Mario Xuereb delivered his last TVMnews broadcast, describing it as “the final act.”

Making the announcement on Facebook, he shared that “a new chapter in journalism beckons.”

“As I take a bow at the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS), I would like to thank all my helpful and well-meaning colleagues, past and present, for supporting me and for making this possible,” he continued.

Mr Xuereb had been working at PBS for well over a decade and held multiple roles, including presenting 'RasimbRas' and 'TVAM.'

Recently, he also served as Manager for Special Projects, Strategies and Planning.

In addition, Mr Xuereb is a part-time lecturer on media and politics within the Department of Public Policy, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy and also on demographic movements at the Institute of Maltese Studies within University of Malta (UM).

He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education as well as a European Masters in Mediterranean Historical Studies.

Now he is also reading for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Maltese studies at UM.
