Dr Cassar was ranked in both Corporate/Commercial and Gaming & Gambling. In a separate LinkedIn post earlier this week, he noted that he had improved his individual ranking in Corporate/Commercial Law and had also been recognised as one of the world’s Global Market Leaders in Gaming & Gambling.

A Partner at GTG, Dr Cassar is responsible for the firm’s Intellectual Property, Data Protection & Privacy, and Technology, Media and Telecommunications practices. His work spans Gaming & Betting Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, fintech and commercial law, with a client base that includes gaming operators, suppliers, technology companies and listed entities. He has led and advised on a number of high-profile M&A transactions in the gaming and technology sectors and regularly advises on data protection, GDPR and IP-related matters.

Mr Portanier was ranked in Gaming & Gambling. He is GTG’s Advisory Partner, heading the Gaming, M&A and Capital Markets advisory practices. He joined the group in 2018 as co-founding partner of Afilexion Alliance, which was later rebranded as GTG Corporate.

A former CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority, Mr Portanier has held senior executive roles across the gaming, technology and consulting sectors. He previously founded his own gaming and financial services advisory firm, which merged with Afilexion in 2018. His experience includes advisory work on gaming policy and European regulatory matters, including serving as a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group and contributing to Malta’s submission to the EU Green Paper on online gaming.

Mr Portanier is also a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, and has served as a board trustee of the International Association of Gaming Regulators.

In addition to the individual recognitions, GTG confirmed that the firm has once again been ranked in General Business Law in the Chambers Global Guide 2026.
