Sliema Wanderers FC has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alfred Cacciottolo, a former committee member who played an important role in the club’s history.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, the club extended its sincere condolences to Mr Cacciottolo’s family and friends during this difficult time. His contributions to Sliema Wanderers FC were invaluable, and his dedication to the club will always be remembered.

The Youth Football Association also took to social media to celebrate Mr Cacciottolo’s life.

''For 30 years, Alfred served as Treasurer of the Youth FA, playing a leading role in a number of important reforms undertaken by the Association, including the switch from gravel pitches to turf as well as the formats of the youth competitions. He had represented the Youth FA on the Malta FA Council, and also sat on the Sliema Wanderers FC Committee, devoting special attention to the club’s nursery at the time led by the late Guzi Fava. For the past five years, Alfred was Honorary Member of the Youth FA.’’

The news of his passing has saddened not just the club but also those who had the privilege of knowing him.
