Riccardo Neri, the charismatic founder and owner of Ristorante La Cucina di Bettina by Bologna in Wied iż-Żurrieq, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of authentic Italian cuisine and warm hospitality.
Known for his jovial personality and candid opinions on food, Mr Neri created a dining experience that resonated deeply with locals, tourists, and Italian expats.
La Cucina di Bettina, situated in the picturesque Wied iż-Żurrieq, became a beloved informal Italian trattoria under Riccardo's guidance. The restaurant gained popularity for its raw authenticity, featuring an array of classic Italian dishes crafted from well sourced ingredients. From handmade pasta to fresh fish, each dish reflected the traditional flavours of Bologna.
Mr Neri's engaging presence was an integral part of the dining experience at La Cucina di Bettina. Patrons fondly recall his friendly demeanour and the personal touch he brought to each table. One reviewer noted, "We were welcomed by the really friendly owner... the main thing was the food. TOP homemade pasta, very fresh fish, and a wide assortment of wines."
Beyond his Wied iż-Żurrieq restaurant, Mr Neri had recently expanded his business by opening a second restaurant in Marsascala.
