Ramla Bay Resort has announced a special accommodation rate for Gozitan residents who may be unable to return to Gozo due to ongoing adverse weather conditions affecting ferry services.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, Ramla Bay Resort, located in Mellieħa, said it would be offering a reduced rate of €35 to Gozitan guests impacted by possible ferry cancellations. The rate includes breakfast and a light dinner.
The announcement came as strong winds are disrupting transport services across the Maltese Islands. Earlier on Monday (today), ferry services between Malta and Gozo were affected, while trips between Sicily and Malta arecancelled. Ferry services operating between Valletta, Sliema and the Three Cities are also suspended.
The Maltese Islands Weather Facebook page reported earlier this afternoon that it had already recorded wind gusts reaching 80km/h, warning that conditions were expected to intensify.
In response to the extraordinary weather conditions, Minister Byron Camilleri has advised public sector workers to work remotely where possible, and some schools have also been closed, with garbage collection suspended for Tuesday (tomorrow).
