Dylan Grech, who owns the Perperina Bargain Hunting shop in Qormi, raised €4,440 for charity in a laser-engraving initiative.
Over the course of a week, Mr Grech invited people to donate €1 to Puttinu Cares in exchange for having their names engraved on a board.
While 726 people got their names engraved, some of them chose to donate more money and Mr Grech ended up raising €4,440.
In the process, he also set a new national record - certified by Malta Records - for the largest number of names laser-engraved on a board for charity.
Mr Grech said he wanted to raise funds for Puttinu because he had personally passed through the grief of losing his mother to cancer.
“I know how unpleasant it is and I tried to do what I could,” he said.
