Ministry for the Economy and Industry

"Economy for the benefit of all"

Business Profile

At the helm of the Ministry for the Economy and Industry in Malta, I am set to lead the country into the fourth industrial revolution. Considered as one of the main architects of Malta’s Economic Vision 2021-2031, the aim of this groundbreaking roadmap is to continue securing a robust economy for the benefit of all, at least for the next 10 years, through the strengthening of new and innovative economic niches such as digital technology, IOT, AI, esports, FinTech, the videogame industry, iGaming, blockchain, foreign direct investment and globalised trade.

To propel businesses towards further growth and investment whilst creating new jobs, I spearheaded and am managing a €470 million investment aimed at the modernisation and upgrading of our country’s industrial areas.

I am committed to continue sustaining and providing full support for small and medium sized businesses. My track-record includes the implementation of the €900 million COVID regeneration plan, overseeing such successful measures as the COVID wage-supplement, which ultimately safeguarded 100,000 jobs, and the €100 vouchers scheme which projected a €95 million cash injection in Malta’s economy: a much-needed stimulus during such a challenging time.

Looking ahead, I am determined to continue working incessantly for the Malta we want for our children, a country which ultimately will be a joy to live in.
