After living in Malta for over 30 years, the popular and widely-loved DJ Ian Lang has passed away at the age of 55, his wife announced on social media on Thursday morning.

Mr Lang was a well-known fixture of Malta’s nightlife culture throughout the 90s, playing at several nightclubs such as Styx, Axis and Numer Uno.

He reached a wider audience through his work with Bay Radio, having been involved in the station since its launch in 1992. He continued to be a presenter on the station on a regular basis.

“You are now at peace my love, fly high Ian Lang! Your void is already immensely felt and we will miss you forever,” Mr Lang’s wife, Kathy, wrote in an emotional social media message.

“Langy”, as he was playfully called, “has been with 89.7 from day one, and shaped Bay into whaat it is today,” Bay Radio wrote in its on social media message.

“We are all in deep shock,” the radio station also wrote.

Condolences to Mr Lang’s friends, family, loved ones and colleagues.
